Install a Portable Generator within Minutes
Electricity has made life so much easier for all of us such that we can’t do anything without it. It is however not a guarantee that there will always be electricity every single moment of every day. Determine the Essential Appliances and List Them

Place the Generator Far From Home
You should position the generator as far away from your home as possible. This is to prevent your home from catching fire should something go wrong with the generator. It also avoids carbon monoxide poisoning from the generator exhaust from the petrol it uses.
Plug In the Generator to the Hookup
Make sure you match the holes at the end of the generator’s cord to the prongs on your hookup. Plug it in. You may need to turn the plug up to 15o to complete the connection.

Check the Engine
Check that the valve for the engine is in the correct position and if there is enough oil. If the oil needs to be replaced, then do it.
Start the Engine
Start the engine as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Do it either by flipping a switch or pulling a plug a few times.
Switch the Systems
On your breaker, flip off the utility main which uses electricity and turns on the generator main.
Flip the Breakers
Flip the breakers you installed one by one, turning them on slowly on all the loads.
To return to utility power, reverse the order of operations.
A portable generator can provide emergency electrical power when the main power source goes off. Your life should not come to a standstill just because electricity has gone off. If you don’t have one, it’s time to get one as soon as you can. It doesn’t have to provide power to all the appliances in the house. But only the essential ones that will keep you going for a few hours or minutes till the main source of power comes back on. It’s also necessary to have fuel on standby in the house when fuel in your generator runs out.
